What does Chad Smith (RHCP), Stewart Copeland (The Police) and Scott Travis (Judas Priest) have in common? Despite the very different musical genres they play, they all rely on the same wood from their Vater drum sticks!

Vater is definitely not your everyday drum stick company. In fact, it’s one of the oldest in the world, and it was founded in 1956 by a dedicated drummer, Jack Adams, who played with major acts of the time such as Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby.

One of the characteristic features of Vater stick is that they don’t dry the wood to match furniture standards, which is 5-6% og moisture. They leave in 10-12%, which adds up to a slightly heavier stick, but also a significantly more solid and durable stick, as well as a stick that sounds and feels better.

Further, each stick is not only being weighted to be paired with an identical stick, it is also tested in terms of timbre to make sure the frequency response fits it partner perfectly.
